Statement

I am currently renting studio space at the watermark in Preston where painting is my main focus.  Having returned to painting after spending the latter half of my degree working in 3D.  I feel as if I now have the time for my work to evolve and grow.  The most recent paintings seem to be split into two styles, one style is a series of very complex overworkings where different images are painted on to the same canvas, each image seemingly complete, and then another is added, this is usually done three times.  The other style appears to be very simple the canvas is split, two shapes two colours, one shape tethered to the edge of the canvas invading the other space.  All the paintings have a central theme taken from a recent series of drawings. “Trees” the shapes are abstractions of trees, branches and the space between branches.  My Art is always informed and inspired by things around me, things that play a part not just things that are aesthetically pleasing.
