I studied for my A-Levels at Millom School and received four qualifications, I also received a subject award for Art whilst studying at Millom School. I am currently in my third and final year at St.Martin's College Lancaster studying for a BA Hons in Fine Art, which I completed my first two years with ceramics being my minor subject, this enabled me to gain experience and confidence in a new medium.
My main interest has always been in the field of art, when I was 14 I carried out my work experience at Brackel Labels, where I worked alongside the textile designer, this enabled me to learn about both CAD (Computer Aided Design) and CAM (Computer Aided Manufacture) and use them in conjunction with each other. I gained experience in using the relevant software and had the opportunity to alter designs for certain fashion companies, this I found particularly interesting and on completing my placement I was able to design and create my own label which was then woven into a completed label. This widened my knowledge in the manufacturing aspect of the 'Art World'.
I have completed a number of commission based pieces and in the process of starting some new canvases. At the moment I am focusing mainly on abstract design and use a number of painting techniques to produce interesting compositions. I have recently started using mixed media to give my pieces depth.
At the moment I am working upon a digital imaging project where I have become familiar with the use of photography and use of a digital camcorder. The aim of this project was published in The North West Evening Mail on 29th March 2004.
